The author of this blog has been living and working in Japan for some time now, and currently resides in the Yokohama area. She graduated from university in North Carolina with degrees in Women’s Studies and Japanese, with a focus on religion, otherwise known as “how to never make money off your education”.
For some reason, it did not occur to the author to create a shrine blog until she was staring at her half-finished third goshuinchou. Why it never occurred to her to do this until after visiting over 200 shrines, she will never know, and may regret it until the end of her days.
Despite various studies and experiences, the author does not claim to know all there is in the world about shrines and Shinto, so there’s always room for correction, improvement, and more knowledge.
